With experience serving both private and public sectors, including the military, BCG has experience in all phases of project development. Our seasoned team of engineers can handle unique engineering projects, aggressive deadlines, and collaboration as part of a larger development team effort. We also offer full service and support services as well as consultation services.
Buffalo Computer Graphics is an experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) developer of integrated, web-based solutions for a variety of industries. Geographic Information Systems have become essential tools for the management, analysis and presentation of geospatial and environmental data by providing decision-makers with the spatial data they need to solve a variety of issues. BCG is a proven developer of robust, secure, user-friendly solutions for a variety of markets that meet these demands.
Our team of GIS specialists design enhanced solutions that provide for the highly specific needs of our client's geo-spatial requirements. The professional services we offer address many disciplines and markets, including: municipal government, mass notification, asset management, environmental planning, emergency management response, planning and mitigation, etc.
BCG also provides a high level of support and maintenance for all of the systems it develops, including customized training, and site-specific user and system manuals. BCG has experience writing user-friendly and scalable software that can accommodate localized solutions as well as large-scale use on a state or county-wide level. Our success with custom engineering and GIS application development comes directly from the time BCG takes at the beginning of each project to thoroughly understand the goals and objectives of the customer. Our broad range of GIS expertise allows us to offer innovative, customized solutions to meet the specific needs and goals of our clients.

In addition to designing hardware solutions, BCG manufactures, assembles, packages, and ships completed solutions. We are happy to develop prototypes as well as small and large-volume production runs. Our electrical engineering staff has experience in PC board design and manufacturing, Digital Signal Processing (DSP), embedded systems, and telecommunications. Our engineering facilities are well equipped to handle rapid prototyping and production. In order to assure project success, BCG begins every project with a review of requirements and objectives. Once preliminary costs have been provided and approved, the design and development phases begin, followed by prototyping, quality assurance testing, production, and ultimately installation/deployment.
BCG offers a complete line of custom software engineering services including embedded application development, PC-based application development, and web-application development. BCG redesigned a hardware module used for cooling control on the F-16 fighter jet. The original board was made obsolete do to parts unavailability. BCG performed the hardware redesign based upon a new Intel processor and firmware.
BCG has performed contract software development and consulting services for CUBRC. In one particular instance, BCG performed a complete analysis of a public health department's IT and field data collection systems to evaluate their effectiveness, identify deficiencies, and make specific recommendations for industry best-practices. This effort led directly to the health department issuing a RFP for replacement of their sub-par legacy IT solutions.
BCG has a long history of providing quality service to educational institutions throughout the United States.
BCG was enlisted by Tel Instruments for two different team efforts. The first was to design the software used by Tel for a Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) Test Set. This device is used by Tel's military and commercial customers to qualify and test the DME equipment used by aircraft. This test set can be used on a runway to verify DME operation prior to take off, or in a test lab to test/repair DME units on a workbench. BCG rewrote the embedded software, and assisted in the hardware development for this task. The software was done in C/C++ and runs in a UNIX environment within the unit.
The second effort involved the hardware design of a new Tel product - a Mode 5 IFF Test Set destine for the US Navy and Air Force. BCG was responsible for designing the digital portion of the unit and Tel Instruments was responsible for developing the RF portion and packaging.
BCG recently developed software for the USCG to allow them to simulate CG Blue Force Track (BFT) secured messaging. This includes encrypted messaging for position, data, text messaging, symbology, graphics, etc. between CG forces. The CG will use this for qualifying shipboard radio systems they are about to introduce into the fleet, then for training of CG personnel.
BCG was involved with a SBIR for the US Navy to create a multi-function observer station which integrated radar, electronic chart and sonar input into a single display, then to use the three mediums to assist in collision avoidance of vessels in restricted waterways. Our engineers created software which allowed a single workstation to display the three different mediums (each layered on display) then began looking into how the data could be used to assist the pilot in navigation or to automatically maneuver a vessel for collisions avoidance. BCG collaborated with Sperry Marine on this task.
BCG has provided engineering support services to Xerox for over 10 years. During this time BCG has developed high speed laser based drum scanners and film plotters for the printing industry. It has also developed custom CAD/CAM software for printing applications.
In one particular task, BCG designed and built three control units for a scanning microdensitometer used by Xerox for quality control. The microenvironment is a device which can measure changes in light density as it reflects off of paper. Xerox wanted to use this to scan copies from their copy machines (and competitors), collect data and then analyze the data for quality. BCG designed hardware to interface with the microdensitometer, collect the data and then transfer it to a computer for analysis. BCG also wrote the software interface between the control unit and the data analysis computer. In another follow-on task, BCG later extended this process to color copy scanning using high end desktop scanners. In this effort BCG wrote the software for scanner control, data packing and assisted in data analysis.
