Buffalo Computer Graphics' DisasterLAN incident management system, currently used by the New York State Emergency Management Office (SEMO), has continued to expand its scope within the State of New York with the recent installation at the Division of Military & Naval Affairs (DMNA) headquarters in Latham, NY. The DisasterLAN system installed for the DMNA has been customized to meet the specific work-flow demands of this military installation for the National Guard. BCG examines the unique Emergency Operations Center (EOC) work-flow for each and every customer - ensuring the system works within the structure of the environment of each client site, and performs the necessary modifications. All EOCs are a bit different, and BCG ensures the product fits within the unique structure of every client site.

BCG worked with Lieutenant Colonel Mark Slusar and other designated DMNA staff to analyze their unique needs, and an off-the-shelf DisasterLAN system was configured to meet their specific requirements. Site-specific Administration and User training was provided by BCG staff for select personnel within their emergency operations center.

The system is used on a 24/7 basis to monitor a variety of events, as well as for emergency situations where mission requests and situational information are captured and managed by DMNA staff. Their DisasterLAN system will eventually be integrated with New York State's DisasterLAN system to better handle wide-spread or large-scale critical events. The DMNA also plans to roll out their system to all National Guard locations throughout the state, enabling comprehensive management of events in each area.

DisasterLAN (DLAN) is the emergency management system that was chosen in 2004 by the New York State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) in Albany, NY. SEMO performed an extensive technical and cost review of over twenty competing systems before selecting DisasterLAN. The system is installed in their EOC and used on a 24/7/365 basis. Separate DisasterLAN systems have been installed for numerous NYS counties as well. DLAN was also a key component for work performed in conjunction with Entergy Corporation for the Indian Point, NY Joint Information Center. BCG has also installed DisasterLAN in the states of Vermont and Minnesota, and the US territory of Guam. In addition to these deployments, DisasterLAN has been a key component in numerous national demonstrations on interoperability, and has been used to demonstrate cross-border interoperability between Niagara Region, Canada and Erie County, NY. Since DisasterLAN adheres to both CAP and EDXL standards, it is not only interoperable with other DisasterLAN systems, but also ready for interoperable communications with any other systems that adhere to these standards.

Buffalo Computer Graphics is proud to work with the Division of Military & Naval Affairs in New York State.
