Kingsborough Community College (Brooklyn, NY) has contracted Buffalo Computer Graphics to expand their training capabilities with the addition of a single screen visual presentation to their existing simulator. Kingsborough currently has four student training positions each with a Steering Console, Radar, Electronic Charts and VHF Radio capabilities. Each of the student positions is linked to the instructor control station and the debrief classroom. BCG has expanded this configuration with the addition of a ship visual presentation.

The upgrade effort integrated BCG's existing simulated environment with a single channel (42" LCD monitor) placed for an 'Out of Window' view for the student. The visual database for New York Harbor was delivered, along with 10 different ship models. The student operates their Ownship using the new visual, the e-chart and radar simulation, all coordinated and registered to provide a realistic experience.

Kingsborough plans to add the same visual capability to the remaining student position this year.
